Here's another ride from So. Calif (north of Santa Barbara) that includes a climb of Mt. Figeuroa, another climb the pro teams use for spring training. The climb is about 10 miles of average 7.5% grade with a number of 10%+ sections. It was a killer for me. Glad I did it with about 20 other people as a fully supported ride. It started and finished at the Marriott in Buellton. The organizers call the ride "The Stinger".

Amen! Toughest climb I've ever done; but, I'm planning to go back and do the same camp & ride next March - and try to be a bit more prepared.

We have similarly long climbs here in Colorado, but not much if anything that has those grades. Most roads here are grade limited due to winter icing.
