I'm having trouble syncing my GPS via USB, what should I do?

First of all, make sure you are not running Parallels or VMware Fusion when trying the sync -- these applications can "take over" the USB ports on the machine, even when they are not the in-focus (top-most) application.

Ascent uses the open-source gpsbabel utility to read data from Garmin GPS devices. In the past, there have been some stability issues when read errors occur. Read errors can occur due to:
- bad cables
- dirty contacts on USB cables
- problematic USB hubs
If you are having problems, please try a different cable, and plug the cable directly into your mac (avoiding hubs).

If you still have issues, please email support@montebellosoftware.com, and attach any crash logs if available.
