Why won't Ascent download all the activities... - Limited memory in GPS devices

The Garmin 205/305 series (and probably others) have limited memory and can only store track data points for the last few activities, usually between 1 and 30 activities depending on their length. For older activities, the 205/305s will store "summary" data, but all the data points are gone. Ascent relies on the data points for almost everything it does, so it does not (currently) even attempt to download these "data-less" activities.

If you have previously synced the older activities into the Garmin Training Center application (before the data points were deleted), then you can export a .tcx or .hst file and import that into Ascent.

Syncing every few days (or after a very long activity), and/or turning off the "record data points every second" feature, should avoid any activities from being lost because of these limitations.
