Hi Rob,

Just had two failures trying to install this one. The dialogue box comes up with an error and the message:-

'Ascent does not have permission to write to the applications directory! Are you running off a disk image? If not ask the system admin for help'

Any ideas as to what is going wrong - the updates normally sail through.

Thanks again for the continued updates though! They have been superb and added some great features.

Best wishes

Mike
UPDATE: Works fine when taken from the Downloads page on the website and installed that way.

Upon upgrading I get an error:

*** -[NSWorkspaceCenter close]: selector not recognized [self = 0x6ca7e90]

Thus, I had to take the old Ascent file from the trash, but inspite of that it does not launch.

All the past upgrades have been ok, except this one.

I use Mac OS X 10.4.10 on an Ibook G4

I tank you for a reply, as now I am unnable to lauch Ascent

Chaps, as mentioned just go to the main webpage and download 1.8.5 from there and install. It works fine that way.

Best wishes

Sorry about that. It appears that if I create build Ascent on Leopard, even with compatibility switches set for Tiger support, this problem occurs. I've rebuilt everything on Tiger, and a new version is availble (1.8.6).

If you can't run or find Ascent on your system, just download the latest version from here and drag it into your Applications folder:

Ascent 1.8.6

Rob, downloaded latest version as and when reminded, but now Ascent won't restart at all. I tried downloading the 1.8.6 ZIP file but this will not extract without an error message. Any ideas? Running MacOS 10.4.10 on iMac. Nick

Strange, this was tested on both Tiger and Leopard and seemed to work fine. What error message are you getting?
